Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Rob D, why would you want to go through the tunnel, the best route to Italy is over the Col de Petit San Bernard, the N90. It's very spectacular and you get the most fantastic view of Mont Blanc plus you can stop at Lo Riendet the best mountain restuarant in Italy which is open during the summer. You can't miss it it's the first place you come to after passing through Petit San Bernard or drive on La Thuile and stop at La Rascard beats the tunnel any time.

It was open when I was there just over a week ago, so I can't think why it wouldn't be now.

Rob D, AFAIK it's open but yes there are long delays because all the freight traffic has been diverted down from the Frejus tunnel. 1 hour queues typically and brother in law had a 3 hour wait last weekend.

The point of the freight as problem is that they have to go through the thermal scanners and other safety stuff that cars typically don't need.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Rob D,
I'm with David@traxvax on this, at this time of the year I would be looking for the views of the mountain passes. Unless you are going to Courmayuer I would go via Switzerland into Italy for anywhere further on than Aosta.
