Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Was just waiting DG to see how much easyjet was... will probably take the train I think ... but eurostar havent released yet.
By the way - dont know what Easyjet website was doing - but you could book flights for Gatwick from first thing this morning if you selected "all london" airports... But if you keyed in Gatwick at the first stage - it told you they werent available.... bizarre.

Crikey!!

Just checked our dates (4 trips) on Easyjet....I am very very glad that I didn't wait for them to release their winter schedule!
Booking early with BA, Alitalia and Swiss was a LOT cheaper than a so-called "budget" airline.
I really do mean a LOT cheaper!

There seems to be a lot more variation in Easyjet's prices from one day to the next, often without any apparent pattern. If you have flexibility in dates you can save a fair bit of cash. Our original dates with Easyjet gave us a price of £152, but by moving the outbound flight from a Friday to a Sunday, and the inbound from a Sunday to a Tuesday we got our flight for £78.

 You know it makes sense.

I assumed it was all to do with how quickly the (limited/variable) number of cheap seat allocations on a given flight are taken up?

PG, I'm sure it's just supply and demand type equation, but I was surprised to see Saturday flights cheaper than Sunday, and Friday being more expensive than both.

rob@rar.org.uk, It depends on the dates. At half terms, holidays etc the Saturday flights are the most expensive. At other times in the season the weekend trip flights (out Friday, back Sunday) get more expensive.

Last October we went out to Barcelona with Ryanair and it turned out a fair bit cheaper to fly Mon-Mon and pay extra to the villa owner than go Sat-Sat.

Quite ironically, the panel where you enter your details is headed with the phrase

Book a cheap flight

"Cheap" does not seem to be a good term for them this year, I am really saddened at their prices. They have really increased the prices for the Saturday/Saturday bookings and any long weekends.

Have to hope that Ryanair will do better ...

Elizabeth B, depends on what you mean by budget. They still offer business class and full service economy minus the dreadful food. And their business model is not that of Queasyjet or Tryanscair's...

Easy used to have a formal policy that their most expensive seat on any comparable/competitive route would never be more than 60% of that competitors. That was some (7 or 8?) years ago. Clearly their pricing for the last few years is based on a large enough percentage of their client base being too stupid to shop around assuming easyjet will be cheapest. If you can fool enough of the people often enough...

For the leisure routes/times/dates that I typically need, then BA or Swiss - actually any "normal" airlines are invariably better value. Oddly, Easyjet are often better for business travel.

Try this website for comparisons of flights etc. Found it really useful in the past. Don’t have to book thru them can just use it for research.

David Murdoch, It seems to be getting through to the great British public that low cost airlines are only low cost on the dates that you don't want to travel. Flights at £2.99 or whatever are just come-ons. So if you need premium dates for Geneva, you are not going to get a deal IMHO until the seats get distressed (as we say in the travel business ) ie lots left to sell and only 2 or 3 days to clear 100 seats for instance.

If you are going ski-ing in Europe anywhere in a radius of 600 miles from Calais then I recommend you think about going there by car if you need to book early to secure accommodation. Another longer term option is to make sure your credit card is linked to AirMiles, this can help you make good savings as well, depending of course on your credit card usage snowHead Evil or Very Mad

DAVID SNELL, Airmiles definitely a good idea, although must say that BAmiles almost entirely useless.

I appreciate the thought but London to Champoluc (for example) by car not terribly effective for two day weekends.

And, actually, thinking about it, it (the point you make) can't be getting through (to the great unwashed) though as presumably Easyjet do expect/intend to sell some some seats at these egregious prices?? Or am I missing a point? (Happens often...)

DAVID SNELL, and another thought/question; I was not aware that Easyjet ever reduced prices (except in Sale!! mode). I haven't seen it happen myself anyway - whereas I do see "regular" carriers selling off what I guess are "distressed" seats. Which is the whole disappointing thing (sorry, veers off topic) about the whole Last Minute Dot Didn't thing. If they HAD managed to contract with agencies/operators to specialise in distressed product, it might actually have lived up to it's name.
