Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

slikedges, very interesting. It's something we should perhaps look at incorporating into any further SHAGS, or thoughts of SHAGS.

I'm starting to think it will be in a spreadsheet matrix type format where one plugs in their actual date and then other key statistics (eg weeks skiing; weight; number of postings all of which can be factored to a level of risk) to end up with a SHAG age. This could then be graphed to identify trends.

We'll probably find that the guys peak younger, and the ladies prime is older.

There's a fair few Brits posting on theTeton Gravity Research Forums who seem younger than the average age here. (Warning - site may offend)

Maybe if we want to encourage a younger posting audience we should emulate the TGR style a little more but with a British flavour.

I like both sites but prefer this one. TGR is good for snow reports etc.

(But then I'm excluded from posting in this thread anyway!)

Nadenoodlee, I go to school in a town with people like that - life for them is going out and getting wasted on friday night, and crime. They have no life. You are very correct about that, however I tend to find that steroetypical of teengers, and mostly it is right, but there are still a few non-smoking, sensible kids, if you look hard enough.
(Well, I'm not what I would call sensible but I don't do crime/drugs/smoking ect, you know what I mean! I'm a little crazy!)
I'm an only child so I find talking to and generally socialising with adults a lot easier than with people of my own age, and I like this forum. There are interesting, intelligent conversations - unlike what I hear at school ect. RE to what I said earlier about other young skiers, when I go to ski slops they just don't want to know. Especially the racers. Now, I don't mean any offence to the Pendle Hill skiers, that is a great club, even though I haven't been for yonks. But at other clubs (too many slopes to name now! I'm trying to ski every dry slope in England!) the kids do seem very up themselves, if you excuse the expression.
I could go on a whole rant about teenagers, I know I am one myself but they annoy the hell out of me (and it is, of course, very hard being one!) The youth of today. Maybe for another topic, eh?
Frosty the Snowman, thankyou, I will keep posting. I like this forum, it's an out-of-the-way forum, not about a band or music, where I'd feel safe giving my age out. And my mom and I are very careful about these things. Shhh, don't tell anyone! LOL.
Adults may be safe and slow and boring. (NO OFFENSE MEANT!!!!) But they are full of knowledge and wisdom and I find it is a good thing to speak to them. Unfortunately I seem to be one of the few teenagers who think this sort of thing, and even then sometimes I don't think it, ever since becoming a rocker I have had a slight disregard for anything. Well, I was like that anyway! But don't worry, I'm mainly good at school and enjoy some of my lessons. (Not maths! It's impossible!)
I wish there was more young people on here. But adults are great to talk to as well!

crazy_skier_jules, as i'm sure you recognise, there are lots of intelligent teenagers. However teenage society decrees that pursuits perceived as bookish are naff, so that few wish to participate as it seems oh-so-important to conform to the pack and therefore few are practiced at reasoned discussion or reflective narrative, as opposed to flippant one-liners. That's why it's a pleasure to read your posts here and to gain a little more of the teenager's perspective on life and skiing. And don't worry, it may take years but your late-blooming peers will eventually catch-on!

I;m 26 so guess I'm young but I do post on natives more often. Just had a read of that teton... website - what a load of elitist idiots. (well, the thread I readf anyway!). I like it here and at Natives so there you go!!

And Jules - I was like you when i was younger, happy to talk to, socialise with and generally learn from adults and it got me far to be honest. I reckon I got my job based on my personality and I got that from being comfortable around adults even when i was a moody teenager!!

It's the parents and the parents parents. It all starts at home and if you behave like a sh** its likely because your parents were/are sh**s. So what chance have your kids got to not be sh**s?

I can't believe how bad it has got that I can be intimidated by kids with a big mouths wearing a hoodies.

Peter Leuzzi, I couldn't agree more! Sadly this is now the Norm rather than the acception. The government is implementing new initiatives to try and combat teenage pregnancy, IMHO the teenagers concerned know more about sex-ed than we ever did! Surely most of these teenagers and their parents see it as an easy way of gaining benefits and housing, whilst our professionals (teachers, nurses etc) can't afford to buy their own home.

I have been keeping quiet as I am physically over the (rather unfair Sad ) age limit but it doesn't seem to have stopped anyone else so what the heck.

Surely it doesn't matter how old you actually are. I had a great time in my teens and twenties but I certainly wouldn't go back and do it again - mainly because there's no need. I still have great fun now I'm in my thirties but I'm better equipped (mentally, emotionally and financially) to cope with it all. Age itself is not really an issue.

Nadenoodlee, don't blink. Your 20's will pass you by and suddenly you will say something and realise its a direct quote from your parents that you laughed at when you were in your teens/twenties and now you see as wisdom. My favourites that I have adopted with the littluns are:

" Don't waste food/break toys etc. Some children don't have any"

" I can't. I'm too tired."

"Do you think money grows on trees?"

"Ask your mum"

"Where did my twenties go?"

Ray Zorro, I doubt it. Considering teenagers all try and act like theyre 22 anyways most of the time

But there we go thats life, you always think you're the first to do/try something, but in reality we're all doing the same stuff as our mums/dads/grandparents did etc etc

If someones older than you they try and give you advice you've probably heard a thousand times, and if someones younger than you they ignore whatever you say as they've heard it 1000 times before. Such is life rolling eyes

The thing with most teenagers is they want to grow up too fast, they shoud embrace every day, as every day holds promise!....its madness! i graduated last year & have spent a little while in the 'real world' & its Rubbish! i wish i could be 16 again ( i too was a fairly decent teenager i had respect for my self & respect for others).....no bills.....no council tax....not having to think about getting a decent job to pay off my ever increasing debt (but it was fun making it at the time)! enough ranting... does anyone have a time machine??

Peter Leuzzi, It is the parents that are part of the problem. You see the mums being b!tchy tarts, and the dads being tough 'hard' blokes solving a problem with fists, then you wonder why the kids are like that. I see people's parents in school, then I thank god or some other wonderful being that my parents, though they are much older and sometimes very mardy, that they are not like the other parents.
Kramer, Laughing Laughing Adults are good at bluffing!
Most kids are ignorant, and don't care. People take the mick out of me because of all the sports I do (sailing and rock climbing as well as skiing) because they don't know any better and don't care. What really annoys me is the people who think I'm a rich b!tch. I go on skiing holidays on a very thin shoestring, and I go dinghy sailing, not posh yachting. And the people who make pole-pushing motions. We do go UP lifts to the TOP of a mountain with runs DOWN it for a reason! It's not like gravity isn't obvious!
slikedges, yes, I'm top in the school at geography and 3rd in the year at science, and I get called a boff, cos I'm in the top class. I'm unbelievably bad at maths though!
Nadenoodlee, yes, all these damn townies that gel their hair! And don't get me started on Chavs! (stupid, rap and 'bling' and burberry loving idiots!) They are complete (insert naughty word of your choice here!) And someone in our class, now isn't, because she is pregnant. At 14/15. Not even above the legal age!
Did I mention being a teenager sucks? Yep, all the love, friends, school stuff. Adults just tell us to shrug it off and not make a fuss, but it means a lot to us at this age. For example, I was heart-broken at finding out my long-term crush was taken. Now, I've got over it, but it was so painful at the time. It's the first time you've felt these feelings, so strong and so deep, and really plays hell with your head, to say the least!
Also, most kids don't care about politics, but a bit before the elections I started taking an interest in it, and views are somewhat different, being a teenager. I could go on a long rant about it, but I'll just say this, Tony Blair is an idiot!! (But non of the other parties are any good! I think we'd do a better job!)
I would also like to say thankyou to you all. I am a member of several forums and this is the only one where I have been warmly welcomed, encouraged and made to feel part of. Thanks guys! Very Happy snowHead snowHead snowHeads rock!
