Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Bomb defused on road to Gulmarg in Kashmir ahead of international ski event

Attempts to promote the Himalayan resort of Gulmarg have received yet another setback, a bomb having been defused on the road to the ski area just prior to an international cross country event. The Indian authorities have been underlining the fact that the Kashmir is now peaceful, with the 15 month ceasefire holding. However snowHeads reported only last July that attacks were continuing (Swissinfo article):
Quote:
But India still faces a revolt against its rule in its part of Kashmir, about 45 percent of the region, where militants carry out daily attacks. Tens of thousands have died since the revolt took hold in the late 1980s, destroying Kashmir's once-booming tourism industry along with it.

Shah is aware of the threat from militants but brims with enthusiasm when he points to dozens of six-seater cars rising from towering pine and coniferous forests.

In today's report from the Pakistan Daily Times:
Quote:
“We’ve put in place foolproof security,” said Gulmarg police chief Imtiaz Ahmed. “There’s nothing to worry about.”

Quote:
The resort has been hit by Pakistani artillery in the past, but with a 15-month ceasefire in place, skiers are slowly returning to its slopes.
