Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just got back conditions still excellent some ice patches on the home runs but thats to be expected the whole of the Ski Welt area is being managed well. The bashers are out in force the resorts don't seem to be allowing Moguls to build up to preserve snow cover. Due to the very cold temperatures at the moment goggles are a must for all skiing away from the nursery slopes the wind chill has been lower than -25 degrees . First thing in the morning the snow has been hard bashed pistes but this has improved through out the day as temperatures rise slightly in the sun. Powder has been plentiful most mornings between 10 and 20cm where pistes haven't been bashed some deeper powder off piste but if you want fresh tracks be on the first lift. All links and lifts appear to be open we never came across any link that was closed or a run without snow. A bright clear day as we left the resort but the local forecast was for some more of the same this week. The Hartkaiser funicular remains the main route out of resort in the morning catch this lift early between 9.30 and 10.30 its like a sardine can and gets worse towards the end of the week as the ski schools start progressing up the mountain. Lift ques are virtually non existent we only encountered 2 queues of more that 2 mins the whole week once up the mountain and up to 15 minutes for the Hartkaiser funicular during busy times in the morning. Snow depth reports seem to vary between 80cm and 120cm for the upper slopes the lower slopes about 40 - 50 cm but where the ice is it will be less as the snow is not bonding to the ice and gets scrapped away daily. There is plenty of snow and excellent skiing and more snow on the way.

We had and excellent week and a good warm up for the rest of the season.
