Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

where to buy replacement heel and toe plates for rossignol boots

Pretty much as the title really rolling eyes

Anyone know where I can get some replacement heel and toe plates for my rossignol salto sts boots ?

I've had no luck on line, and I really dont want to chuck the boots as they are very comfortable.

Incidently, is it dodgy to carry on using them, its mainly the front and rear parts that are worn away, the main body of the plates is still there..

toby wright,
I am afraid I cannot help you with a source for yourplates but I think the following is correct.
I am probably speaking out of turn here and I am sure a better qualified person will be along shortly to correct me, or maybe not, but the way I understand it is that as long as the actual contact areas of the boot and binding are not damaged then there is not a problem. The wearing away of the ends of the, usually black, plates that you describe simply leaves a space under the extreme back and front of the boot.

As skitow says, it's the contact points that are important.

That said, we've had to replace both pairs of the kids' boots this year, as we couldn't source replacement heel/tow pieces from anywhere: much of the problem is that the boots were X years old, and even shops which sold those boots originally are highly unlikely to have spares after all this time. We did manage new heel pieces transplanted from some old boots the local ski shop had, but when the footplate disintegrated, we had no chance or a replacement.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

thanks all, yes its just the ends that are worn down, well, they stayed in the bindings for my 2 weeks skiing this year and came off ok in my one 'fall' Smile
but I'd like to sort them before they wear out too much...

having said that, the boots are about 9 years old, so maybe its time for some new ones...

I'll give CEM a PM
