Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

How do i repair the tops of my skis?

Whilst in the 3 valleys early jan, i managed to take a chunk of material off the top of one of my skis by catching a rather jagged rock sticking out of the surface whilst turning. As a temporay fix i put some duck tape over the effected area to keep moisture out. How do i go about repairing them? it doesn't have to look pretty, just want to keep the moisture out. The chunck goes a few mm deep through the top layer of material and a very small amount of black material (looks like base) can be seen. Any ideas?

I did the same to a pair of Bandit XX's. Made sure it was clean and dry then put superglue over it to keep the moisture out. Not had any problems since.

Mac Daddy, similar advice, I've used Araldite epoxy resin in the past.

yeah, i was thinking about epoxy but wasn't sure if it was flexible enough. I'm sure it'll be fine though. Cheers for the advice peeps.

Epoxy comes in different flavours, some are more flexible than others. Check the packaging.

I did the same thing to my (then new!) Atomic R9's. Even more annoying, it wasn't while skiing - I took about an inch chip from the top sheet whilst sliding them in one of those ski holder thingies outside a pub in Les Arcs. How annoying is that?! Anyway, I took them to S & R on their next service and they put some protective resin of some kind on it. Only about an extra £3.00 on top of the service.
