Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What hire skis?

OK, given that there will be some choice, what skis should I hire next week? I'm unfeasibly tall, 85Kg, 6 week skier happy on reds, starting to tackle easier blacks, carving for a couple of years, no off piste. I had Crossmax 7 last time and was underwhelmed.

michael stocking, Piste or off-piste. Piste - short, curvy and sharp. Off piste - PHAT. What you can see on the underside (wax, sharp edges etc) way more important than manufacturers name/model.

michael stocking, I tried Volkl 4* recently, which is billed as a piste prestige ski. Plenty of grip for completing those turns. I'm not quite so tall and weigh about 95kgs and just completed my 8th week. Didn't rate them quite as well in the chopped up crud though.

Also tried Head XRC i800 - great ski, great fun and great in all the conditions I came across. Seemed just as happy cruising, pottering or canning!

The Salomon Streetracer has had some good reviews - had a go on them at Milton Keynes and on a dry slope and found them very responsive.
