Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

help with ski bindings please

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I am looking to buy some Line Darkside skis with Salomon S810 Ti bindings.

However these bindings only go up to 1ft (310mm) ski boot length and my ski boots are about 13 +1/2 inches (335mm). How difficult is it to get the bindings changed?

One of my mates told me to get them remounted, does this mean re drilling the ski?

The guy that is selling them told me that re drilling would make the ski too weak, but he did say I could fit Line Reactor 12 bindings because thats what they came with, but they were rubbish. Is any of that true?

Thanks for your help Puzzled

if the bindings are already fitted but won;t fit your boot, then they have to be re-fitted, which means re-drilling the skis. Doing it once shoul dbe ok, but I'm not sure about more thsn once. I had mine redrilled as they were too big for my boots, and haven;t noticed asny problems at all.

line skis however are a bit different as I understand it. They come with predrilled mounting holes (with metal inserts) meant for Line bindings. this may have an effect when you plan to remound the salomon bindings?

Snow Man, get the Line bindings. I think that they are pretty cool. Note, I haven't skied them, yet, but you can move them between skis just like snowboard bindings... And they are a dual-pivot design that is proved to reduce the risk of ACL ruptures. Enough reason to try them, IMO.
