More like 1330. You definitely won't reach Langres in daylight, but on the autoroute I find it's the presence of absence of fog, rather than daylight, which makes the difference.

More like 14.30 I was getting the time differences the wrong way round, this is allowing for the inevitable delay on the Tunnel. Should do most of it in daylight if conditions are OK.

Got back last night. Did the direct route going down and took the A39 coming back up. A39 did seem quieter, though chickens for sale @ 26 euro have to be rather special? Think I would do A39 in future.
One question. By going A39 do you miss a toll. There seemed one hell of a gap between tolls from Lyon up toward Reim on the way back. Might be just the roads are so long it all fades but do you miss a toll on A39?

EDIT: oops, too late! Still, maybe the below will help someone else in the future 
We accidentally did that last year, "thanks" in part to TomTom. There was nearly a Diplomatic Incident in the car as the Eiffel Tower suddenly came in to view...
Top tips:
1. Don't just trust the satnav, program the route in piece by piece.
2. (and this is very important) Don't ask the satnav to calculate the return route whilst you're still up the mountain. Ours only works in two dimensions, and it routed us down the Les Arcs hill, then across and up La Rosiere, and in to Italy. Which I'm sure is a nice route in the summer, but during winter is a piste. Literally, as we found out at the top.

I do Birmingham - Les Arcs about 3 times a year. I go M42, M40, M25, M20 (bit of M21). After that it is all plain sailing. Personally I don't see the point of stopping. We usually leave home about 17:00 and get to Les Arcs sometime between 9:00 and 10:00 the next morning. We originally started driving to the Alps because it was much easier than any other way with a small child. He would wake up for the ferry crossing and again around Albertville but sleep all the rest of the way.
Getting to Dover might be only 1/4 of the journey, but it is 3/4 of the hassle.
