Skiers are being encouraged to hitch and car-pool, rather than driving alone, in a plan to cut carbon emissions and reduce demand for car parking at Queenstown's Coronet Peak this winter. Parking facilities are being provided and "hitching posts" are being established on the outskirts of Queenstown and at the base of the resort’s access road.
...As an incentive, single drivers arriving after 8.30am will be required to park in a lower car park and will need to use the car park shuttle to get to the resort’s base building.
Coronet Peak is scheduled to open on June 7.
