Scotland looking agreat for this weekend.
Been to all the areas lots of times but never found the Back Corries at Nevis open - tho' apparently every prospect this weekend.
Can any SH's advise on whether it's as good as it looks on the Nevis Website photo galleries? It looks amazing!!
Should I bother - or just go to Glencoe 'cos it's nearer?

Back Corries are excellent, even better when Braveheart is running....
If it were me, I'd ski Nevis if Braveheart was running, and Glencoe if it wasn't (assuming spring run and/or flypaper were open). If I had 2 days I do one at Glencoe, one at Nevis....

Wow, first time in about 3 years I've seen it listed as open!!! Go for it!
Go staight on and left (or perhaps half-left) from the top of the summit lift for the highest (and best) entry of the main back bowl - further left for the rest of it (usually a slightly easier entry the lower end). You can go down to the Braveheart tow if it is working or join the traverse left much higher up which takes you back around the mountain. Or to join it lower down the traverse go over thje top from Warrens tow
Or there are a couple of ways down much further to the right which end at the bottom of Braveheart (but the one I did required a jump to get into it - not sure about the other but I think its similar).

Getting in is IMO always evil: be prepared for quite a drop-off - or a very rutted and bumby trackline. But once you are in, it's just sublime. Getting out can involve a walk.
[Unfortunately we're off to Zermatt next weekend, so have to give Ecosse a miss for a while.]

ccl, Yes as Deliaskis, says, some of us are going up for the Ski Testing (and of course our own skiing more so I should think) next weekend, some of us on the Friday some of us on the Saturday. If you want to ski the Corries in company then we are looking to try them as well but we won't be there until at least the Friday lunchtime, I haven't been to Scotland at all before anyway so not sure what to expect!
RobW, how big a drop off are we talking here in metres? Approx of course I know you can't say exactly! 
What is sublime about it? As in deep snow sublime?

Last time we did it, maybe two metres. It's not the drop that is the problem, it's that you land on a steep slope and need to be convinced you are going to be able to control yourself! MrsRobw looked at it for ages before committing. Once you've done it once, it's *far* easier the next time.
Sublime as in totally natural, wild, and unspoilt.

Looks great! I think I will have a look at it when I get there next weekend and then decide if its do-able for me or not. I'm not going to try anything above my current skill level for the sake of it-off to Val D next month for 2 weeks so can't afford any accidents!
Are there any other Snowheads apart from kiwi1, roga, Deliaskis and myself that are off to Nevis Range next weekend? Or would like to be? Hopefully the excellent conditions will be there next weekend too. If you're up for a bank holiday trip then check out the Scotland Easter thread in Trips!

Thanks so much for the invite, but I won't be able to join you . I have already fixed up to meet friends on Cairngorm on Friday and Saturday and have to be back in Edinburgh on Sunday (to take a class at Hillend, would you believe )
