Poster: A snowHead

Im off to Bardonecchia on January 9th and obviously am hoping for some great skiing conditions. I've been checking the various snow report sites for what seems like months and also the Bardonecchia website (which hasn't got any webcams working yet)
Ive just come accross this site, and they are forecasting quite alot to come down next Sunday (17cm) and Monday (31cm).
Are they normally quite accurate?

No idea - but I've just looked for Tignes and they're forecasting exactly the same amount for Sunday and Monday. Coincidence

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Snowforecasts are like horoscopes. If you're feeling down, go into WH Smith and read all the magazines until one says your week will get better and better

A forecast is by definition is just a prediction.

Good graphics on the site, as a matter of interest the local meteo for us, Haute Tarentaise valley, always seems to be reasonably accurate, last week they were forecasting snow for Friday - a big dump. Went to bed Thurs, clears skies, no wind our prdiction. they'd got it wrong, woke up at 6.00 am to find it dumping down. My son checked the meteo today, the prediction is that it will snow on Sunday, I'm not going to bet against them.

Most weather forecast sites buy their forecasts in from one of a very few sources rather than employ their own meteorologists, so it depends on where they buy their information in from. Generally, the further away the forecast, the less likely it is to be accurate. I personally don't find them useful. If you've booked in advance, all that looking at the forecast does for me is make me worry about something that I should just be looking forward to. If I'm booking last minute then I would just go with the snow reports on current conditions.

I think anything futher than 2/3 days is a lottery. Maybe for trends but that's about it.
Goddamn we need some snow here. One or two storms is all

I think that it's highly likely that it will snow next week in l'Espace Killy.
