Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

D G, When I weighed in at about 16 stone I was always pleasantly suprised how strong my legs were - until it was pointed out that they should be, as they were used to carrying me around all day Sad

Boardski, Apparently the water should be cold - During the normal course of exercise our muscles suffer micro-tears and so the pain we experience after normal exercise (I'm not talking about acutal knocks!) - some people call it DOMS -the muscle ache is due to the body coping with these micro-tears. The cold water bath is supposed to work on the same principle as RICE. i.e. keep the body muscle cold so the "injury" to it doesn't worsen.

Which means, technically, a warm water bath is encouraging blood flow to these micro-tears in our muscles, which increases the swelling, which thereby worsens the pain we're gonna feel a few hours later.

Can't see anyone opting for the chilly bath, tho. Can you?

D G Orf, Good job, how's the hamstring power? I've been looking at a little bike training accessory, and you can corner with both feet down Shocked

Manda, snowrubs work really well, though you do have to trust the person administering. Cool

After running a marathon Paula Radcliffe will have a bath in ice water to repair the micro tears in the muscles the ice stops the tears from bleeding which apparently causes the muscle ache you get after exercise
