Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Bridget Jones goes skiing...

...with inevitable results. The sequel movie 'Edge of Reason' premiered in Leicester Square last night - unfortunately snowHeads' showbiz correspondent wasn't invited - and the embarrassing chairlift sequence can be previewed on this clip (click on 'Ski Lift'), courtesy of Yahoo! Movies.

The skiing takes place in very romantic Lech and Zurs, where Bridget spends a ski weekend with dream lover Marc Darcy (Colin Firth). Of course, it all turns to a mixture of farce and disaster.

According to this report from The Edmonton Sun Renee Zellweger insists that she did most of her own stunt skiing:
Quote:
"I'm a cold-climate person so the skiing scenes were great fun to do."

"I was on the slopes with two members of the Austrian ski team. They were always just off camera ready to intervene if anything went wrong."

Zellweger says she defers any praise and accolades to the cameraman who shot the scene in which Bridget careens down the ski hill.

"The cameraman was skiing backwards and depended on me to tell him when he was about to veer off the mountain or smash into a tree.

"It was totally insane but also exhilarating."

The movie hits the screens this weekend, so any comments on Bridget's ski performance can be posted below!

In the meantime, do we have a caption for Bridget Jones's chairlift dismount technique?

In a freak accident at Beaver Creek today, a speeding marmotte collided with an unfortunate beginner on the Pink piste. The force of the impact threw her backwards onto a passing chair lift, which was empty at the time.

I sympathise with her having got of a chairlift late and ending up in a pile up with bent poles etc!

I saw the film last weekend and the skiing scenes are the best part and the scenery in Thailand. Alas the rest of the film is not a patch on the book and its not as good as the first, which is a shame as there are some very funny moments in the book.

David Goldsmith, great clip, thanks for the link. And thanks to Alan Craggs for explaining that it is a Marmotte she is wearing over her one-oiece. I have never seen this style of dress before - is this how one tries to disguise an all-in-one?

Is it me or is our Bridget clutching a pair of twintips? Looks like some pocket rockets, or maybe 1080s from last years?

Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:
My two daughters went off to see the Bridget Jones movie over the weekend. The ski sequence got a definite thumbs up. Apparently she makes false claims about her skiing credentials, which explains the 'safety bar incident'. This bit of the film culminates, I'm told, in a ludicrous conversation about a pregnancy test, in very broken German.

The movie's certainly had mixed reviews. Janet Street-Porter, talking about it on the radio, was ecstatic. Others have been a lot more critical.

Here's a couple of reviews: Time Out...The Guardian...The Times

Maybe the answer is to go and see it in a teenage frame of mind.

My girlfriend and me went to see it yesterday, and after very mixed reviews we wern't expecting much. But we both enjoyed it very much. It is as most sequeals are, just a reworking of the original film, but as David above states, go with a teenage frame of mind and you should enjoy it.
