Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Are ex race skis 2 years old that are occassionally available on ebay good for dry slope skiing?
Generally are the edges still in good condition?
What is the is a good price for such skis?

Thanks
David

I would be very carefull about buying second hand race skis. If they have been used for racing, which most modern race skis are bought for, then they are likely to have had the edges sharpened so often that there will be precious little metal left. This is doubly true if they have been used for racing on dry slopes as adges are sharpened after each run! Also the edges of race skis used to be more narrow than normal skis (for a better flex pattern I think) so there wasn't a lot of edge to start with - don't know if this is still true. Good Luck.

davidb, I did find a secondhand pair a couple of years back...but the edges have now been filed away, just as John Scott, described. They are now used
for teaching on, and not much else.

This year I found some three year old, but unused, Rossi 9S skis..I expect them to last until this time next year.., when they will be relegated to teaching mode.

None of these were found on E-bay, the first came from a freind, the last from a shop.

What do you want to use them for - if racing then Bartletts of Hillingdon are worth a look, if not - why do you want race skis ?
