Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

No need to download; use the easy-nav page index feature in the dialog box. Hmmpf. They shoved the Elan Fusion S12 into the Cross Sport All Terrain category (page 58 ), a misnomer IMHO, should be replacing the GX on page 56.
Best reviews you'll never pay for.

Hey, I might be able to get demo Zags in Canada (page 48 ). Did you see the VR27 Geant on there? (pg27).
I forgot to ask you how much you value the skidding behaviour of your current 28Xs ?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

comprex, the skidding is more down to my style, on a good day I carve beautiful turns on a not so good one I skid, but when it comes down to it I can do any turn I have to. I like the skidding though, more importantly I like the hard edges which let me turn on all but solid ice

I've posted this at Epic too, reading the comment on K2 acquisition of Voelkl and Marker...
Quote: |
While rumor-mongers immediately suggested K2 would shift the production of Völkl skis from the company’s high-end German-based facility to K2’s existing factories in China, K2 chairman and chief executive officer, Richard Heckmann, quickly quashed that notion, saying, “That’s something that’s inherent to their status as a high-end ski brand. I certainly don’t want to be the one to tell the German, Austrian and Italian race communities that it doesn’t matter where their skis are made. |
May I ask why he thinks so, and conversely think that Americans wouldn't care?

Because he has a history of moving production out of the US:
Burlington Free Press: K2 to Close Tubbs in Vermont, Move to China
K2 to Move Majority of Snowshoe Manufacturing to China
Don't care? I care! The interesting consequence on their other existing industries (inline skates, fishing reels) is actually LESS market penetration. I have to drive 4 hours to Philadelphia to find a stockist of the full K2 skate line and Shakespeare reels are nowhere in our shops???? The bikes were flashes in the pan, again no one stocked them except by custom order from REI.
This, combined with their dropping the AX4 from the line, has made me very suspicious of anything Volkl these days, sad too because Volkl tided me over during the years Elan went mad.

I understand that, but then, why making a statement clearly aimed at reassuring us that the Voelkl products will still be "made in Germany", specifically saying that he doesn't want to be the one to tell us that Voelkl will not be made in ermany anymore?
To me this implies that K2 management recognizes that Europeans, or at least in this case German,Austrian and Italian (ski) race communities do care where the skis they use are being made.
Why should we, and K2, think this not true for Americans?

I imagine I'm saying he's making political promises, hoping it will all get lost in the eventual re-shuffle.

Matteo, I'd better not express my true opinions, someone might mistake my cynical despair for Masque's.
