Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Colorado finally kisses goodbye to the 2003/4 ski season

Arapahoe Basin ('A Basin') is traditionally the last place in Colorado to run a ski lift. This year they've done well to battle on into June, because there was a heatwave in March which shut many resorts prematurely.

Anyway, the fat lady of A Basin sang yesterday, and this is how it happened: Summit Daily News reports.

As the article says, they usually manage to slide on until early July.

The ski area receives an average of 367 inches annually. This year, snowfall hasn't hit the 300-inch mark.

"We're looking at about 70 percent of normal snowfall this year," Henceroth said Friday. "We're skiing on manmade snowfall and we're running out of snow."

On Sunday, the ski area reported no new snow. Seven inches had fallen over the Memorial Day weekend.

"We've had a very good season and are extremely pleased with the way our snowmaking system worked," Henceroth said. "We would have had a difficult season without it."

A-Basin first made snow in 2002 for approximately one month in November. This year was the first full season of snowmaking, helping the ski area to open on Oct. 30, its earliest in history.

They've battled on with man-made snow. Scotland, Australia and now A-Basin all covered here by DG's excellent info-mation service recently and all with the same problems. Anyone still doubt global warming ?
