Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski width and binding width

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hello & greetings from Romania Smile

I ski for two years now and have done around 900 Km, fantastic sport and highly addictive. Beeing drawn to off-piste I bought a pair of Whitedote One plus a Marker EPF F12 binding. Checking them at home, before sending them to be mounted, I've noticed that the binding is almost as wide as the top of the ski. Could that be a problem? Please check the images below.

That brake does look too wide for the ski and will likely catch on the snow when the ski is angled. When you bought the binding it will say what width the brake is. You should check that this is the same or only just more than the ski width. if you can't get the shop where you bought the binding to swap them for one with a narrower brake then you can always buy a narrower brake separately

Yes, the brake is 110 and the skis are 89. Could not find the bindings with the 90 mm brake, will look further. Here are some more pics:

@mofo, buy a 90mm brake https://www.marker.net/en/products/accessories/brake/

The minimum ski width for the EPF binding is 88mm underoot and the One's are just wider than that so that's no problem.

The 110mm brake width is also fine and your picture is misleading as it only shows the brake partly raised by the packing strap.

The Royal series brake lever is an excellent design and if you click your boot in to the binding you will see that not only do the brake levers raise up but that they also fold inwards alongside the heel thus reducing its width. Plus the added height of the Tour frame raises the elbow of the levers further off the snow clearance compared to the lower alpine binding version.

A 100mm width brake would be perfect on that ski but Marker doesn't offer one, partly as the 110mm folds in so well. And the narrower 90mm brake is actually slightly narrower than its stated width and would actually need bending wider to fit the One.

So the 110mm brake is the correct one for you.
