@Spyglass, yes, only a couple of nights two seasons ago. Impressed. Great location. Comfortable rooms. Good breakfast. Staff friendly. Can’t recall any negatives.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@Spyglass, Hotel Gentiana is similarly very good and well located for a short break in Tignes Le Lac.
Don’t know how prices compare between Refuge and Gentiana.

If I recall, the Refuge only does breakfast (from a very nice room with a view), the Escale Blanche (downstairs) is a separate business but I believe they provide the dinner if you pay. Just check you are comparing like with like if you look at the Gentiana, which is a great hotel, I live next door and know the owner, who is a little Savoyarde eccentric but a very professional hotelier. The Gentiana has a decent Spa as well. That said they tend to work on full weeks only in the season.
If you can't find a weekend deal, there me be a chalet coming that is going to do that, but its not been announced yet so can't say more!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Spyglass, stayed there in March 2016 for couple of nights. As PeakyB: good location, helpful staff, ok room (ours was a bit small, but was last minute booking) and super breakfast in room at the top with marvellous view over the lake.
chocksaway is correct in they only do breakfast - we ate at Escale Blanche coz very convenient. Does good meals.
Would happily go again.

@chocksaway, be interested to know about Tignes Le Lac chalet that may do weekend breaks, once they’re ready to announce please.
Now I think about it, my short break in the Gentiana was in mid December, before the season was in full swing. Even so, they had quite a few guests.

Also, ask away on the main Tignes thread about restaurants - no need to stick to the EB for evening meal, plenty of choice and you are tres handy for bus stops for getting to Lavachet / Val Claret too.
