Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

La Plagne 2018 / 2019

Interesting boredsurfin. So, this is the earliest snow on that list.
Other October first snows were 2012/13 (Oct 28 ), which was a smashing season.
And i think 2008/09 (Oct 29) was quite good as well.
Does this bode well for 2018/19. . . ?

@Jonpim, It rained in Montalbert today, however up at Fornelet there was a good covering over most of the grass.... Those dates are when the snowfall lasted more than 24 hours on the ground.

Call me suspicious but it can’t just be a coincidence that after months of working just fine the Roche De Mio webcam gets ‘stuck’ on 29 October, a day which just so happens to show blue skies and fresh snow on the ground....

Very naughty La Plagne, very naughty indeed!!!

That camera has failed before over the summer - and its failure now doesn't really help anyone. I wouldn't read anything in to it, other than general incompetence if it goes on for long.

It’s probably more of an electrical issue....
There was a problem with the ‘old’ Montalbert camera and it took a technician two weeks to come and press the reset button!

chopkins13, here in UK if there were sudden fall in temperature and arrival of a few millimetres of snow, everything would stop, let alone webcam or two rolling eyes

Anyway, as thefatcontroller mentions: seems to be working fine now.

Rumours have come to the surface that the Envers chairlift will not be certified for use for the coming season!!

Apparently the welds on the chairs have cracked open - maybe hopefully these problems can be sorted before December 22nd ....

There is a further discussion, in French, of the rumours here... http://www.leforumdeparadiski.fr/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3969&start=1320#top

@boredsurfin, what a disaster that lift has been from start to finish!! It’s a horrible uncomfortable lift. I can only hope that the manufacturer is carrying the costs of all these cock ups and not the skiers through their lift passes! Pretty sure La Plagne won’t be rushing to use them again!!

@chopkins13, Rumours are that Poma are suppling a new lift to replace Envers but that wouldn't be done in time for this season in any case...
Who knows what warranties a chairlift is supplied with?

@boredsurfin, in the circumstances that would likely be the best outcome - would sort it out once and for all - such an important link on that side of La Plagne. Skiing the various routes down to Monty is one of my favourite things to do but as a distinctly below average skier I can’t stand the run down to La Roche when it’s busy and/or icy! Let’s hope the rumours are correct on this occasion and there’s a decent warranty backing it all up!

@boredsurfin, given the uncomfortably rough transits over the pylons, this doesn't really surprise me that much although I didn't expect this quite so soon. I imagine that if La Plagne do decide to start again then the manufacturers' insurance will be picking up the tab. The lawyers will be busy.

@Alastair, Indeed, not only the transits over the pylons but the banging and crashing of every chair entering the top station. I would guess the residents of 'the ship' will also be pleased to see the back of it just for a bit of peace!
@chopkins13, I know many people of the same opinion of that run down to La Roche...
