Can anyone assist with this. We are driving to Mayrhofen in April and have booked the overnight ferry from newcastle to Amsterdam. However, when we went attempted to load the car in a practice run we found out that we cannot fit everything in the car. Has anyone couriered their skis, and if so who did they use. Might just be cheaper hiring I guess.

Take out the worry and hassle - bite the bullet - hire out there - just googled it - try intersport - they have 2 shops but there's half a dozen others to choose from.

Met a guy who just used dfs each year, sent them to his hotel and gave the hotel the heads up they would arrive before he did.

I use UPS all the time for my business.
I regularly send parcels of up to 20kg to all over Europe for less than £8 to France, Germany, a bit more to Austria and a lot more to Switzerland.
I can see no reason why this is a problem as long as the skis are packed appropriately and you are sending to a hotel that can accept them at reception.
Cant see a ski bag with lots of Fragile tape being an issue too.
How many have bought skis from EU websites. They mange to get to the UK ok so it can be done.

@hedley, I got a quote from UPS for UK-Europe for £26+VAT for 5kg - how are you getting it for £8? I didn't go direct to UPS (well I did but they haven't responded) - emailed parcel force or something similar, broker. Should it be a lot less?
I think you may struggle to get my deals as I have an account with them(online retail business)
IMHO I wouldn't use anyone other than DPD or UPS for couriers but as discussed there are a few companies specializing in this sort of thing at a price.
You can use a broker like parcel2go or https://uk.interparcel.com for the odd parcel here and there but to get the best price you need a volume account.
