Best in 20 years in Verbier, with it staying cold looks like it's going to last well too.

Just to show the difference between mountain ranges, this from Meteo France today

À 1000 m, il y a, dans les versants nord, 20 à 30 cm en Haute-Savoie, 40 à 80 cm en Savoie, et au mieux quelques centimètres en Isère. Dans les versants sud, il n'y a pas de neige à cette altitude. |
Unfortunately we're in the "quelques cms" compared to some 40 to 80cm in the Savoie at this altitude which is where a lot of the small ski areas have the base of their pistes.
Still probably the best season since... erm 2013 or 2014

Gosh @davidof, that looks like well into Spring, not mid Feb !
Half term last week in 3v, the first two days the snow was fabulous, great base, -10 and below higher up, lots of cloud though so poor vis, but the snow was awesome. My wife commented this should be great into late Easter. Tuesday and Wednesday were beautiful sunny days in superb snow conditions, then Thursday, Friday, Saturday it shot up to like +10. It rained all day Thursday and Saturday, top of Saulire was ok for the first couple 100 metres but then below that rain, visiblity was crap, snow was minging and heavy (and being on a board I'm not averse to spring slush). On the Saturday we skied into Courchevel 1650 for lunch, and getting towards the bottom third of the home run dirt patches were just getting visibile through a thin layer of top snow. It's incredible in how few days the beautiful covering of good snow was destroyed at the lower altitudes - The temperature fell again a few days after, but had the rain continued for another couple of days the runs into 1650 would have had bare patches. It shows one can't count chickens from a good early season start, and no part of a season is guaranteed.

I was thinking of heading up to St Pierre this week for a day; glad I didn't! Presumably the higher runs are OK though? We've mostly been skiing in the Vercors (Lans, Meaudre, Autrans) and conditions are definitely better than last year at this time. Haven't seen any bare patches at all. Would be nice to get some of that Savoie snow though...
