Excuse the naive question...but I'm at VT virgin. Does the like of Fitzroy or Farenheit seven hotels allow residents in for drinks to their bars? We are staying in hotel trois valees but bar looks a bit quiet and was looking for somewhere with a bit of ambience but I'm not in my raving twenties anymore!! Also what's the story with children in bars there Inthe apres ski/early evening sense?

I'm sure you'll be welcome if you go into any hotel bar.
I don't know where your hotel is in the town, there are a few bars right up at the top of town
Le Roast Beef,
The Oirish Bar
The Swedish Bar,
all a few paces apart.
Bars can be very quite especially in hotels.
For some reason the French have an aversion to staying up late unless its Bastille day or Beaujolais Nouveau,
Those bars may be busy this week as its half term, in April they are very quite unless its a closing party.

@Gaza, my father was a salesman from the 50s onwards in Scotland and I suggest Sunday evening “sales meetings” were for entirely different reasons.

@Kagallag, Pretty sure they'll all want your money but there are many other more lively places to enjoy a drink.

Is that what they call people from the north side of Dublin these days?

You know it makes sense.

I'm sorry but see you have posted this question in different threads. You have asked if you will be welcome in the Fitzroy (which I have answered elsewhere) and have been told that you will be welcome in the Frog or Tango - which is hardly helpful as neither establishment bears any resemblance to the Fitzroy.
The English Bar (Frog & Roast Beef), the Swedish bar (Tango), the Irish bar (O'Connells) and the Rhum Bar (God help you) will all welcome you. Whether the Fitzroy will welcome you afterwards is another matter .

@Alastair, Sorry my answer was unhelpful. I thought the Tango rather answered the broader request for somewhere with ‘a bit of ambience’ but I will strive to improve...

@mistral, apologies - I didn't mean to offend but I'm sure you would agree that Tango and the Fitzroy are very different places.
