Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Would You Do A Lovely Alpine Walk If Someone Paid You €75?

A bit of a cryptic question but bear with me...

Mrs B and I were just reflecting on our November 2017 trip to Val Thorens. We usually park at Les Menuires (for free) & ski back to Val Thorens. However, in November Les Menuires lifts were closed and there was no bus service at that time to Val T.
We then went to one of Val T's covered car parks and asked the price for 5 nights parking. "€75 Monsieur," came the reply Shocked Seemingly, a bargain 5 nights for the price of 7!

So we parked in Val T's short stay car park, skied all day, then drove to Les Menuires (La Masse) & parked free of charge. We then had a beautiful walk at sunset, up the pisted (but closed) Boulevard Cumin. It was a steady 500m ascent that took 90 minutes (with great views & we had the place to ourselves), meaning we arrived in Val T in the dark. It was a great experience!

Then at the end of the trip we skied back to the car (in fresh powder) via Boulevard Cumin.

Everyone's a winner! Very Happy Very Happy

So, the question is.... would ya? Puzzled Puzzled

Laughing At the end of the PSB, driving down from Tignes Val Claret, I picked up a French hitch hiker who turned out to be going to pick up his car from the free car parking in Les Boisses (or somewhere down there). There were no buses running because nothing was open below Val Claret so "il n'y a que le stop".

 Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I don't need to be paid to go for an alpine walk Very Happy
Although in those circumstances I'd have got my skins out.

@jedster,
We would have loved that - but our skins were chez nous! Sad

Towing your suitcases?

But your walk sounds lovely. I've been looking out for things for Mrs Z to do on our next trip as she won't now ski and have lined her up to do some guided snow-shoeing, which I must admit that I think I'd really like to do. Gotta love walking in the mountains!
