Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Came in to look at this thread as have had two mates do their ACL's in the last two weeks

I ended up here as I am looking for advice on a meniscus tear. I should have known better. Sometimes this place really is like watching a drunk friend sit on barstool and pee themselves.

I do like these forums but we appear to readily tolerate trolls whilst pushing away anyone we feel might contribute something useful because they might (or might not) have broken some protocol. Maybe we get what we deserve?

Funny how people are suddenly worried about the thread when it's been dormant for 6 months until yesterday's bump.

This forum is usually quite sensible in terms of the variety of threads and regular wanderings off topic without some power crazy administrator chopping it instantly.

Not in the least bothered if this chap was marketing himself and if he got any work from it. A community of like minded people should be happy to help each other out in any way and if that includes referring work then thats fine by me. Especially when its an area of expertise on just about the most common skeletal injury in our sport that many of us have had and will in future.

So, please come back@b4d4bing. Just don't, whatever else you do, suggest lending a mate your ski pass for even just one run. Feel free to discuss defrauding airlines, car hire firms, ski hire shops anything you like. Just not a mountain lift company, they are sacrosanct. wink

Agreed with robboj. If @b4d4bing was able to get some work while helping others, so be it. Can't blame him for it and I think its perfectly reasonable. If someone from the tourism board of Avoriaz or Cervinia or Kitzbuhel came in here and provided advice and insight, would we grumble if their efforts led to people skiing there?

Indeed. And I tend to take as a measure whether people are really worth having around by their ability to sense and adjust to the rules of engagement. Or just go off in a huff at the slightest mild questioning.

Dave of the Marmottes, you make a good point, but i suspect that actually Mark Frame is quite busy enough, and sensibly decided being involved here just wasn't worth the hassle.

He could have made a minor change to his posting style, apologised and carried on just fine. And would have been all the more credible for it. But he didn't - that's on him not anyone else who was insufficiently obsequious.

Anyway it's a wayneo under the bridge. God knows why anyone felt the need to dredge it up to have a bitch about it again.

@Thesixquidman, actually if you look through the thread, it's only two people who were really bitching with the net result that @b4d4bing cleared off with maybe one or more semi agreeing.

Whilst I've counted over 20 who thought his presence was positive and or wanted him to return rolling eyes

Which raises the question implied by @Dave of the Marmottes. Why did he take his ball home? That's a reasonable question.

@Weathercam, I suggest you read the internal brace thread for a bit more context....

and why not invite him back rather than continuing to have a pop at people for an issue, to which only the OP truly knows the answer, over 6 months old?

@Dave of the Marmottes, I'll respond to you - don't think I've had a pop (though have been tempted) merely pointing out the numbers of people for and against 3 vs 20+ - and like I said on the previous page - for sure there was probably some SEO going on, but I don't think it's a big deal in the overall scheme of what he was providing - as many others agree.

And FWIW I have a Knee Consultant as a client so I'm not about to work against him Toofy Grin

That's it now.........

Ah so you can invite your top knee guy to do a similar thing then if you really think it's valuable.... And you're saying that StyleAltitude articles are paid PR ... interesting wink

FWIW I think the OP would have been a valuable resource and would no doubt have built up his personal brand if he had continued to engage and been credible so I hope you're not counting me as an "anti" (and in fact I don't think anyone else who raised an eyebrow was an "anti" just an experienced sceptic suggesting there were subtler ways of doing what he was trying to do). But he essentially flamed out in a 2 day wonder which suggests to me that he didn't really have the intent or stamina to be in it for the long haul.

More access to more information on leg injuries can only be good for skiers. But there is also a healthy role for conservatism and scepticism. As FTS has said from his bitter experience no-one wants to be the guninea pig for a treatment that has not yet reached maturity (and/or a statistically meaningful number of proven outcomes).

sorry going to have to call you out for lying on that one

it was ItaloSkier who resurrected the thread, and it wasn't 6 months old, but hey, why let that get in the way of hounding a guy?

@Dave of the Marmottes, I wouldn't even suggest it to him Toofy Grin

And that feature was not paid PR though a certain knee surgeon's (known to many on here) PR Co did approach my OH after that feature and how it's doing well in Google Searches!!!!

And @abc, please take some time to look at the date time when I posted and you'll see that I did not resurrect this thread, I came in to look after it was 2nd or 3rd recent thread after ItaloSkier had posted rolling eyes

Now I must get on have stuff to do as road trip tomorrow chasing powder Cool
