Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Black Diamond Amperage Mounting

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hey!

So I am mounting my skis (Black Diamond Amperage, 142-115-124) for the third time. The only options are either back 2.5cm or forward 2cm. I have not been skiing very long 3 years but I can get down almost everything at the hill and do most of my skiing in the backcountry. I have Dynafit Radical FT bindings and won't be doing any tricks and maybe small air over little bumps here and there.

Any recommendations on where I should be mounting them?

Not a clue, but won't it depend on where they are currently mounted?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Ya it will. The previous mounts make it so that I have to mount either 2.5cm back from centre or 2cm forward from centre, at a minimum. I am not even really sure what the effects of a change like this might have.

For touring I'd probably go back - as a minimum it would make kickturns easier going up. Going down slightly better stability at the expense of slightly worse manoeuvrability (reverse all that if you go forward). But I'd also check if recommended on the Amperages is relatively more forwards or backwards of other similar skis before deciding - I have no idea.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Just for clarity: Can we assume you mean fore or aft of the recommended mount point, not fore or aft of the ski centre as you state above?

If so then as stated above a lot will depend on how far back from centre the current rec point is.
