Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

First Time Solo skiing in Les Houches

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi All,

I am looking to go skiing in March alone for the first time in Les Houches..

Just wondering if people have any tips/slash advice for me.

I am not the most extroverted individual but would be cool to meet up with other people there rather than be sat in a room alone in the evenings for a full week.

I had a weekend there on my own last January and ended up skiing on the Sunday with a British man that I met on a lift who was being a ski bum for a season in Cham. It was great as he knew the terrain very well and took me to lots of secret places that I would never have found.

I took a lesson and did an day guided off-piste with ESF and they were pretty good (the full day off piste was very good value I thought @ around 90 Euro). The ESF office is at the bottom of the Prarion lift.

If you want to ski the rest of the Mont Blanc area I would advise hiring a car as they are pretty spread out.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@jason.peter1986, Welcome to snow heads.

Just out of nosiness, why Les Houches in particular out of the valley? It's not a bad choice at all, but Central Chamonix is rather more sociable and busy.

That said, the new Rocky Pop hotel bar is allegedly quite fine for apres...

@jason.peter1986, I'll be there a fair bit in March, though working most days. Happy to meet up if any dates suit though for a ski - what week will you be there?

Also, pop your details on the Snowbuddy thread, that makes it easier to find other snowheads.

I'd recommend having a look at the Ski Club of Great Britain hosted sessions too - maybe not every day but one or two: https://www.skiclub.co.uk/france/resorts/argentiere/instructor-led-guiding

Be wary of @fixx, she'll convert you into a ski bum, take you out drinking, and generally turn you into some form of monster.

@jason.peter1986, hmmm, I’d be inclined towards Cham itself or Argetiere myself.
