hi everyone, am going to do a three day ski with my mate, bit of off piste and some small tours...... we usually ski in espace killy but as its a short trip we want somewhere close to geneva as its easier for us to get there..... so after resort thats 90 mins max by car from geneva.... ideally somewhere we haven't being before but will consider anything, we dont need anything to gnarly, but some accessible stuff and maybe a couple of half days guiding.... cheers

Ok how about some of nearby resorts like, Les Houches, St Gervais, Les Contamines. Or you have the Grand Massif (Samoens, Flaine, Les Carroz, Morillion).. failing that you also have the PDS reports like Avoriaz, Morzine, Les Gets, Châtel, Morgins.

All the above are about 75 mins out of Geneva.

Verbier and the 4 Vallées? http://www.verbier.ch/en/ski-area-lifts/winter-activities/winter-activities.htm

You could do it by train - probably for two it's a similar price to car hire and parking. See www.sbb.ch/en
Train to Le Chable is 2½ hours but factor in car hire faffing-'round and getting out of the airport and it's comparable time.

If you're under-25 then you can get a 12-month Téléverbier pass for CHF300. THere are also sometimes offers of accomodation plus skipass on the Swiss TOurist website www.myswitzerland.com

@ajc2260626, You can get to Zermatt entirely by train from GVA. No need for car-hire faffing at all...

Any of these.

Personally I love Les Contamines for general skiing, and easy offpiste. I've also had a fantastic day with a guide round Avoriaz - I like guided offpiste in the bigger resorts, gives you a whole new perspective.

Right now, personally I'd go for Grand Massif if I was doing a quick trip and wanting a guide - I've not skied there for a while, and would love to see the offpiste angles with a guide. It's a great area.

Or Aravis resorts like Grand Bornand might be worth a look?

Leysin and Villars are super easy to get to by train from Geneva airport. Access to Les Diablerets and Glacier 3000 too. I went to this event last year as part of a 3.5 day trip for some guided off-piste with abseiling etc too, it was excellent.

i think that somewhere in france is prob better as easier to get too, grand massif might be a good idea as we would go there in the future anyway so get some routes specced out with a guide.....

zermatt is a 4 hour transfer from geneva as i doing that in November to do a basi course so a bit far i think

verbier could be a shout as the the whole shooting match is good but i reckon i would end up going out to big and the ski would be a right off lol

@ajc2260626,

if your criteria is easily accessible offpiste near GVA - with or without a bit of skinning - and you don't need anything extreme then I'd say Les Contamines is just ideal. Your criteria is why I bought a flat there.
My first trip to Les C was 3 days with mates. We took a guide for one day to introduce us to the less obvious routes but skied all over the mountain offpiste too. Fell in love with it.
