Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Looking for next year, half term. Has anyone been to Yllas? What's it like? Will it suit a family of 5, 2 adults, 2 teens and a 10 yo, all intermediate skiers. Any recommendations where to stay and is it expensive? Thanks d

Ylläs is great! The best skiing in Finland. It seems to coincide with the Finnish holiday which is week 12 for the south of Finland. It will be busy.
I don't think it will be much more expensive than the alps, as it's not Norway.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Fantastic cross-country, hundreds of km of tracks. I only spent a day on the downhill pistes and am a beginner, but they were in beautiful condition. It's an ideal sort of hill for teens to go off on their own. There's a good supermarket in Äkäslompolo if you're self-catering, but take your own alcohol...

I was there shortly before Easter and there were lots of cross-country skiers, but the downhill pistes were pretty quiet. If you look at the webcams, I don't think it ever gets mega crowded.

Curious about the supermarket.... Is the one mentioned above walking distance?
We are pondering Yllas for next year, normally go to Levi and the supermarkets there are perfect for location and choice so would like something similar because we self cater.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

W/c Feb 18 is week 8 actually. But I believe @lmu2002 is right that it is Helsinki region half term.
