Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Dupraz D1 5'5

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
At a test weekend during closing of the season, I tested a Dupraz D1 5'5 and was really amazed about the feel of the board.
Carving on slope went super nice.
I found a secondhand board, good as new but it's the model of 2012.
Does someone know if there's a lot of modification done on the board between the models of 2012 and 2017?
It should have the similar feel I guess.

The shape and float should be perfect for powder runs... so how does it perform actually in pow conditions?

Its designed to work in powder I had the specs sent like 5-6 years ago i don't know about any current spec changes .
Back then the board had so much nose it had a 10mm setforward stance I believe ? Now current spec is saying 20mm setforward stance
Its effectively a short board with a hell of alot of nose lenght a similar design as some Canadian Prior and Jap boards but all other brands stances are setback on the sidecut .

A total myth exists that powder boards are washy or don't carve on piste the riders are often from jib park backgrounds (and stances ) with mushy boot binders only used too riding toothpicks at 15/15.

Modern BX boards are setback and tapered so is De La Rues big mountain stick. All freeride boards share varying yet similar design elements although the mix is different and the flex pattern is for purpose .

A French or Swiss guy used to rip on a Duprez 5.5" I believe entering the baker banked slalom you probably could find him on you tube

Bottom line is if you like it ..what more do you want
You don't have to follow the current herd of 7-14 day riders that buy into the larger market sales dictation ,this market sells a image to that sector which is how boards are sold.

Again a number of years ago.... they made a early season Duprez model that was a cheaper cost seasonaires stick ..
Also 163cm was produced I think the 5.5" is like a 165cm?? but powder boards lengths are not always comparable to other designs because of increased nose lengths..

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

It's the 1.65 version.
I found two specs, the board I tested which was the one of 2018 and the one I can buy which is from 2012.

The changes are mainly the flat base vs double camber.
The new edition also has sharper/deeper sidecuts which makes it a deeper carve.
On powder it wont make to much difference I think..

Still doubting if I want to pay up for the last edition. Anyhow, can't wait to test it out this winter.

Just one of many except I believe this guy went up against Terje in the final

You may have noticed the plus or plus plus version denotes the flex profile .

I have 2 D1+ 6'0 and they're great in powder pretty much unsinkable, they ride a lot shorter than the actual length my 6'0 rides similar to a 162.
