Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Tire Chains Rentai in Chile

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Planning on going for a day or 2 into the mountains outside of Santiago. We have a 4x4 car rental (although I can return early, if it just makes more sense to take shuttles to mountains). I have read that one needs chains if its snowing, and those chains can be rented on with way to the resort. Anyone with experience on renting chains?, is it an easy process. or should I be aware of any scams that might exist. An alternative would be for me to buy some chains before we leave and just bring them with us, although I will have very little use for those chains again.

Thanks for any advice.

Part way up the mountain road, there's an area at the side of the road where chains are rented out for the day. I've never rented any myself but have been in a taxi that stopped to have chains fitted - they're then returned on the way down. Not aware of any scams - Chile's one of the least corrupt countries in the region. The shuttle services leave the mountain at 5pm.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I can't add any more than Kelskii, just that I wouldn't take your own, the excess bag charge would be horrendous!
