Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@element, @mooney058, On my last trip one of our party snored so loudly (he had a single room), that he kept the person in the next room awake Shocked

On the subject of earplugs, after years of business travel, I found that these silicone earplugs are the best I've used. They are way better than any of the foam or wax based items.

@PowderAdict, grand, ordered Smile

Now, where can I find anti-nuclear coat and iodine tablets in case the nutcase in N.Korea goes mad and his toys start falling on Hokkaido ... the last launch and rocket path was crossing Hokkaido and places I will be skiing at .... and it will be just before the Olympics in S. Korea so one can expect 'fireworks' .... Evil or Very Mad

@mooney058, from a purely selfish point of view I'd be hoping for more fireworks - will definitely keep the crowds down!

@element, +1 for taking cold remedies / medicines with you.

I also got the absolute worst cold out there, I was bed bound for a whole day! Very painful achey/stiff neck etc. Took several days to get over it fully. It was worse than a normal cold but it's not something I've ever had before or since. My friend caught it too, offset by a couple of days.

I am going next week with Cathay Pacific and they say that if my ski bag exceeds the 80” rule that I need permission. I’ve never had that before even with EasyJet 🤔

@taffvalais, That rule seems to be common in Asia, but I guess it wasn’t designed for skis, as it would limit you to nothing longer than a 170cm ski in a soft bag. Japan airlines have the same rule, but happily carried my 197 x 37 x 20 = 254cm or 100” ski bag, because I flew BA on the first leg.

I guess they just want to make sure you pre register, so they don’t end up with a 100 people with big bags. Have you already contacted them?

Make sure you use the Onsens, hopefully where you stay will have them.

Also check if you'll be sleeping on the Floor ala Japan style, or in a Western bed. If you're on a Futon I thoroughly recommend upgrading to a bed. You'll thank me.

Yes I contacted them regarding my airbag and that's what alerted them to the skibag and I've just received an email regarding the weight which is likely to be under 20kgs

 So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

@Bod, I’m the opposite, I’ve no interest sharing a bath, and I have no problem sleeping on a Futon. Way better to have a big Futon, than a small single bed.

Yes definitely will use the Ohnsen as didn't have the opportunity the last time I visited Japan and definitely having a bed Laughing

I have neoprene 'socks' (Alpine Heat) for my skiing boots. Or do you mean for regular walking shoes?

Advice needed. For my second week in Otaru looking at car hire options but no clue how small JPN small cars are. Would need a car that can transport a pair of 188 skis.
