Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski boots for an injured foot

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hello,

I suffered a serious Lis franc fracture of my foot in February this year and after an operation and metal work I am now able to walk 6 months later! I am told I can ski again next April, however my foot will not point as far as my other foot making me concerned that I will be unable to get it is to a ski boot again. I plan to get custom liners and I soles from either profeet or snow and rock, however can anyone offer advice on whether there are any boots out there which make it easier to get the foot in. Rear entry boots maybe? Are these still on the market?!,

Thank you.

Jill

@jilld.cook@virgin.net, I am not an expert but I'm doubtful that slush and rubble will have available skills to properly help. Profeet I think will. Otherwise maybe pop out to Bicester to see Colin.

If a standard boot won't work, there are custom models available e.g. daleboot.

But a good fitter (frankly, I'd go see Colin myself if I was in the UK) will a. Be able to fix or b. Send you somewhere who can.

I am led to believe that's there's pretty nothing that can't be accommodated. Laughing

@Jill, Welcome to SnowHeads snowHead

The first thing I suggest you do is ask for a username change as its never a good idea to use a real mail address.

On to the boots. Depending on how restricted your foot/ankle movement is, and what level of skier you are, you could consider looking at the boots by Apex and Dahu. Both offer a separate liner to the shell, so are much easier to get on and off.

Hi Jill

Firstly I would probably avoid Snow and Rock, you need to see more of a specialist in Colin at Solutions 4 feet or Profeet (the former being my preference)

Where abouts do you live?

As for type of boot, I cant help you there, but in terms of putting it on, after fracturing my toes a couple of years back (not the same I appreciate) I find it much easier to put my liners on out of the shell (Zip Fits) and then slide my foot into the shell. It allows you to open the shell, reduce the angle and gives less friction. Same in reverse to take off.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thank you so much all! Great advice.

Help though as I can't find anywhere how to change the username! It won't allow me under profile or settings. Cant see a contact for administrator either. This was a rushed mistake on my part and now I can't seem to undo It!

Thanks so much... I live in Wiltshire so solutions for feet might be closest. Good advice about the liner. Thank you. Hope the toes are ok now. This has been a hellish year so Far!
