@stanton, Pretty good at interpreting the webcams and snow forecast information - so just like we can speculate too, any photos from that taxi window in downtown Zurich so we can see what's happening there too?
On a more general point - There's some pretty awesome powder skiing going on around Galzig/ Kapall judging by local friends FB posts......good for them!

Little bit of a dusting this morning down here in Pettneu, stuck to existing snowfall but didn't add much. Snowing quite a bit heavier now, and has been doing for at least an hour, which is sticking to the roads now too.

More snow now so they will pak it down again..
Rumour is Rendl will open on day 1 as well this season which is very unusual (economics).

How much snow has fallen today? Watching the updates from the USA it seems accumulations have not been as much as expected.

Nice and quiet up on the hill, with some lovely conditions. One or two places a little harder packed/icier than expected, but waaaaaay better than it has been in previous seasons! Good to get back up there.

Quite a bit busier today than it was yesterday, took 5 mins yesterday to sort my lift pass out, took friends this morning almost 40minutes! Was very cold up there today, more so aft lunch as the wind seemed to pick up as the day went on, meaning that in places the loose snow was being blown off the pistes leaving it hard packed underfoot. Helicopter looked to be fishing quite a few off the hill, likewise the blood wagon with the odd one or two.

Nasserein parkplatz is still free at the moment (usually €7 a day), likewise along the main road by Hotel Valluga/Billa.

First avalanche of the season for the Bergrettung yesterday. Bottom end of Happy Valley about 2:30pm so I just missed it by about half an hour as I headed down early yesterday. Nobody caught up in it, but it did go over the piste, few pics on the Bergrettung Facebook page. Quite a few other smaller slides on that side and the Mattun bowl with some cracks showing. Nicely busy in town yesterday night due to the concert no doubt (didn't go), and pistes were about the same as yesterday but as it wasn't as windy, less loose stuff was getting blown up and the harder packed sections smaller.

@Sitter, interesing and as ever useful to get a view from someone actually there. Saw quite a few slides in Ischgl today and yesterday though away from the pistes.

Still some nice powder higher up on Mattun. Loads of glide cracks and slips on the lower grassy sections above the piste. One fairly sizeable slide from where everyone traverses high skiers right where the piste (red 21?) drops to the left from Schindlergrat too.
