Just wondering is there many Irish on here. Its a bit of a nightmare trying to get good deals from Ireland as we are limited in options for destination airports amongst other obstacles. If enough of us get together in some sort of group/forum surely we could maybe benefit from cheaper trips and ultimately more trips. If this is something that may interest you give me a shout. Maybe there is something like this out there and if there is could you point me in the right direction. Need to find a way to board more often until the lottery win comes in.

How Irish?
I'm in Belfast.
Old Fartbag is up here somewhere.
There are a couple from the west coast.
Haven't found any sort of group buy type thing, but sleazy jet run loads of flights to GVA from Belfast on Saturday and Sunday during the winter. The TO deals are very limited.

Yeah usually fly to GVA, Lyon or Bergamo, transfers rarely suit so car rental is usally the option. Thats fine when theres a few of you but when your mates can't go it get pricey, just thinking if there was something like the buddy thing in here where you could pick a willing snowtraveller to cut the costs it would be great. There doesn't seem to be that much action on the site in general in here so the likelihood of finding that snowbuddy seems slim. i'm just desperate for more trips so looking for options really.

A load of eejits by the sound of things.* snowHead members get together several times a year for what appears to be excellent value ski trips. Once I get rid of the sprogs I plan to join in.

I normally do Easyjet from Belfast or either Ryanair or Aerlingus from Dublin. Buy cheap flights and go with UCPA, or look for late deals on accommodation. Have a look at action-outdoors.com if you haven't heard of UCPA.

Purple played the Ishgl season closer 4 yeas ago. Their set was really polished, like they'd been practising for 40 years perhaps. Roger Glover was in good nick considering the mileage.
I'm trying to prove I'm Irish along with quite a few other people at the moment.

opposite corner of the country here in Cork. only flight option for us is Munich with aer lingus so count yourselves lucky. Dublin is a total pain as we live 340km from door to airport. we are actually considering flying out of Kerry to Hahn which would be about 600 km to our preferred resorts in Austria, but only Friday and Monday flights which is more time off work + extra cost +kids out of school etc. we have gone in groups of max 16 to as few as 5 in the last 20 years. failed to go last year due to lunatic flight prices and lunatic 2yr old.
Cork airport is pathetic for central\southern Europe flight options.
re getting a better price for a group, we got married in Austria and thought it would be a good idea to get a group price from aer lingus expecting a discount. some chance!!
flights were about 130pp at the time online they offered us 220 pp!!. some offer. topflight do offer group price discounts but their prices are so high the discount would need to be huge.

One option which might be worth looking at for those without decent flights to resort airports is to fly to Paris and take a high-speed train down to Bourg Saint Maurice (direct access to Les Arcs, easy access to 3 Valleys, La Plagne, La Rosiere, Sainte Foy, Tignes & Val d'Isere).
Air France often sell packaged Flight + Train tickets (in fact, you sometimes have to be careful not to book one accidentally when using comparison sites!).
I guess reasonably timed/priced flights to Paris are probably more likely than Geneva, etc.

@Tom Doc, Hey Tom, another from Northern Ireland here. Two of us flying into Geneva on the 16th December and considering the Action Outdoors option in Tignes or Valdsere. Have you stayed at either of those centers and if so could you give feedback on them plus arranging transfers etc. Our flight home on the 23rd leaves Geneva at 09.50 so atm we are struggling to find transfers as the earliest A/O can get us back to Geneva at is 08.00, definitely not enough time to get through security.

Left the rebel county long ago to conquer far away hills in the haute savoie, 1 sqm at a time. So if anyone coming to PdS look me up. Half decent boarder, tend to stay entirely off piste when conditions allow. Actually been listening to a lot of NI bands recently...SLF, That Petrol Emotion, Undertones, Gallagher (good cork man).

@langball, langball, been to the PDS a few times and the last was two years ago the week before xmas. Only thing putting us off again is the chance of bad conditions once again. Where you there last season at that time? was it overcrowded that week and were the conditions decent enough? The chalets in the PDS are brilliant and what you get for the price there I can't find anywhere else, I know this is partly because of elevation but we are considering holding of to last minute as we already have flights into Geneva booked. The short transfer is also a bonus

I haven't been to either Tignes or Val d'Isere yet, but planning on Val d' in January.
The Tignes centre is more modern and gets a better comfort rating than Val d', but Tignes doesn't have the cachet that Val d' has, so you makes your choice....
Regarding transfers - any chance of one on the Fri night? Or possibly best to change to a later flight if there is one - the fee for changing might be less than a special/private transfer.
General tips - if you are tea drinkers take tea bags and mugs and take a short extension lead with 6 plug sockets on it with one continental adaptor.
What course are you thinking of doing?

@Tom Doc, Seen that the Tignes centre got a full refurb for last season, Val was going to have one in time for next season starting but that has been put back to be inline with the rest of the towns redevelopment. Wanted to go to Val is they had half time snowboard and ski lessons available whereas Tignes doesn't, so if we done Tignes it would just be no instruction.
Didn't think transfers would have been a problem to be honest from such a big resort and we don't mind leaving in the middle of the night as it gets us home early in the day. Spoke to a guy from Bens bus so hopefully he comes back with something.
We would be fine with coffee Tom.
