Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

St. Anton - Warth - St.Anton ... doable?

 Poster: A snowHead

With the advent of the new Flexenbahn, is St. Anton - Warth - St. Anton doable in one day? (Starting from Nassereinbahn or Galzigbahn) I guess we could manage finding ourselves in Lech or Zürs when the lifts close, but I'd prefer skiing all the way back. I can't really find the timetable for the bus (is there still a Lech - St. Anton bus?). A taxi isn't out of the question, but would prefer to avoid it.

Next week, should we do it on a cloudy day, to avoid queueing for the Flexenbahn?

It was easily doable before so don't see why not even with the new crowds induced.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

No problem even a nice long lunch in Schrocken.

Certainly it's easy. There is still the Postbus which runs from Lech to St Anton. The last one is about 7pm

Absolutely!! As per other replies, you could do it before getting the bus to Zurs from the Valfargrbahn and skiing all the way then getting a bus back from lech to the Val lift. Quite trying going all the way from the top of the lift all the way down to KKs after a massive day though!!

Thanks for the replies. Just to clarify that the bus is plan B. Plan A is to ski all the way from Nasserein to Warth and back. I've done the ring before (bus to Zürs), so I know the trek is doable.

@Badbobby, I'm going with my son, so KK is out of the question anyway. We're going to Mooserwirt, naturally! Toofy Grin

I tend to alternate;)

The buses were a bit of a faff and a squeeze, plus you had to hang around a bit for them - so skiing all the way is quicker as you're always on the move.

In Alpinforum (german) a very experienced, local (knowledgable) couple posted a report on the 'Run of Fame', started from Lech in the morning at 8.40. They did the full round Lech-Rendl-Warth-Lech in about 5 hours, with a fast lunch in the chairlift. They had no queues.
From St.Anton it will be slower, since many, often hefty, queues are reported at the Flexenbahn, Trittkopfbahn II, Seekopfbahn (Zürs) and Madlochbahn (Zürs) and sometimes Rüfikopfbahn (Lech) and Valfagehrbahn (Stuben) in the early afternoon.

Common opinion often heard: Run of Fame is overrated. Is not a relaxed thing to do, and you miss out on the greatest pistes, especially in Zürs. Also reports of very unclear signage

Looks and sounds like bullsh*te. For people who don't actually like skiing and need an unnecessary tourist challenge.

@Langerzug, well, we managed to do Nasserein-Zürs-Zug-Warth-Lech-Zürs last Wednesday. Postbus back from Zürs to St. Anton. The dense fog played an important role. Partly, queueing time was negligible at the bottlenecks, due to low turnout. On the other hand, navigating from pole to pole and missing the correct slope a few times made it quite slow.

As an experience, it's not particularly different from Der Weisse Ring and you will hit the same bottlenecks. Overrated? Well, I don't know what it's rated at. wink Yeah, it's not particularly relaxing, but my son (9 years) wanted to do it because it's cool to ski to the far end of the map.

From what I heard, the important thing to mind is not to get stuck in Warth when the lifts close. Apparently, it's a very costly affair to get back to St. Anton by other means of transport and spending the night in Warth may actually be cheaper.
