Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Eating in the slopes San cassiano/Alta badia

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi all
We're looking to head to Alta Nadia next season, we love Italy and have skied all over, just wondering if it's pricey to eat on the slopes in Alta badia? We've already noticed hotels seem to be more expensive then what we are used to so we're starting to think lunch might be a bit pricey?! We usually just got for a panini or bowl of pasta - usually can get a nice panini for around 8 euros.... is this the case in Alta badia?? Thanks! Also we're looking to stay in San cassiano, so any hotel recommendations very welcome!

@cbowls30, I've never found a restaurant in the area that's not good value. I can't recommend any hotels as I've always been on the Snowheads bashes on
the Sella Ronda.

Everywhere seemed very reasonable - a little bit more than Austria especially for a beer E4.50 but often only for a 0.4L. Bratwurst and chips c E8 and gulashsuppe E6.50.

A warning tho' queues during the week were horrendous first week of March so eat early or late as self service can move very slowly and served, unless you throw a teddy, you will be ignored - the Italian lady next to me, arrived after me...., just went up to the waiter and grabbed him with her order.

Just got back from Corvara....ate on the mountain in various restaurants and can say they are very reasonable. Due to us staying in a lovely hotel half board, tended to only want a snack at lunchtime, so normally had Gulaschsuppe or pasta, which varied from 6-10 euros. My son decided one day to have a Rack of ribs at the Rifugio Ciampai restaurant, priced at 18euros, it had loads on the plate, had to help him finish it!!
Note though, weekends can be really busy during lunch hour as the Locals and visiting Italians seem to take 3 hours to eat & dine.
@countryman, we arrived on the 4th March, and it wasn't so bad. The week before was carnival week, so might be the reason why..

Think price of a bowl of pasta was on average €9. We loved alta badia! We found accomodation bit cheaper in colfosco or la villa
