Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Also re the bus...it might be quite full by the time it gets to you as it starts at the other end of reitdorf.

Taking the car also means you can have your outdoor shoes to change into if you want. Good if you need to stop early with your leg.

@rm1982, I can certainly understand why you don't want the kids to be in all day ski school. We ski in France where half day ski school is the norm and you can ski with the kids the other half. As it happens ours have never been to ski school but that is another story. So it sounds like you understand what you need to do now anyway. Hope it all goes well.

@rm1982, Am I right in thinking you've never skied on a mountain? And has your husband?

I think it would be very bold to expect to do a single lesson with a ski instructor and then spend the following week taking your children around the mountains. I hope you will discuss this plan with your ski instructor on Day 1 and reconsider it in the light of his advice.

My BiL did quite a bit alof lessons at Castleford before his first trip to the mountain....Flachau in january. He had been told he was nearly parallel and could ski unsupervised. He really struggled with the mountain experience. He had morning group lessons but the blues are very limited in Flachau. At the end of the week we drove round to tbe Rote 8 lift o the other side of the mountain. Officially it is Wagrain. Taje the rote 8 gondola to the middle station and get off. Then ski a lovely blue...mostly wide wirh a track to ski out. Its about 1km long. he loved it...we just had to keep looping that as he wasnt sufficiently competent to do anything else. He is a big 55 year old but even so I had hoped he could do more. Private lessons next year.

We actually really like skiing on the Saturdays as it is usually quieter on the slopes. But with 4 kids, it will also be a lot of fun just having chill time to make snowmen and having snowball fights!

@rm1982, how did the holiday go? Did you get more lessons in the end? I'm sure there are others wondering how it all worked out.

We ended up having to cancel the holiday.

After my day ski day in the snowdome, I had a couple of falls which didn't effect me at the time, but turned out to be hip bursitis. I had cortisone injections where a sports dr told me I wasn't allowed to ski as by that time I couldn't put any weight on my leg, it would cause to much damage. I'm still having physio, he recommends I also start Pilates type classes for stretching cos I'm very stiff lol. So knowing that we decided to cancel the holls, also turned out that the passport office lost 2 of our passports so they wouldn't of arrived back in time.

The best thing to come of all this is my 3 girls 11,9,7 have all joined a local ski team and they have their first competition in May. We plan to go skiing over xmas for sure this time, but me having plenty of fitness training before hand to get my body where it needs to be xx
