Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Abondance Cabine hit by tree - two British Injured

 Poster: A snowHead

I hadn't seen any mention of this until I spotted it now, wondering why Abondance seemed to be totally closed.
According to their facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/abondancetourisme/ the cabine was damaged by a tree in the storm last monday. While looking for further information on le Dauphine, I found this report: http://www.ledauphine.com/haute-savoie/2017/03/06/mont-blanc-les-vents-forts-impactent-encore-les-domaines-skiables which says that two British skiers were injured, reading between the lines, maybe jumping or falling from a cabine?

I hadn't spotted if this had been reported on here and I've been looking as I'm off to Chapelle tomorrow.

@andyrew, I read about it in The Daily Mail earlier in the week with a British couple reporting that they were on the gondola when it was hit by a tree, they found themselves on the ground surrounded by shattered bits of the gondola and went to a nearby chalet for help. I didn't see it mentioned anywhere else so thought it was the DM getting the wrong end of the stick.

Gotta love the Mirror.
Accident happened on gondola at Abondance, and they have picture of the Gondola at La Chapelle.
Thats like having a story about George Galloway and having Picture of George Michael.

I didn't give up because this event involved my son & his girlfriend. Both Ok although concussed for a few days and girlfriend has damaged knee and is unconvinced by the joys of ski-ing.

Full story is one tree hits up cable, big tree hits cabin of gondola and knocks it to the ground. Occupants unconscious and fall out through damaged front. They come to and seek shelter. Tree snaps and gondola rises off ground. My son has since been on a Bernese Oberland ski mountaineering trip involving two Gondolas and a bit of high wind so he is back in action.
