Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

boot question

Evening chaps.

I've always had bother finding a comfy board boot. Odd, given my Fisher V10 Ski boots are VERY comfy.....

I've currently got a set of 32 Lashed, which are a tad too big. They are of the type where the inner lacing is part of the outer boot.

Now, i don't know why I've never tried it before, but I put my ski boot inner in my snowboard boot last night. MAN was it comfy. even when it was ramped up as tight as i could get it, i walked around for ages with no discomfort etc.

Anyone see a reason not to board with this setup?

If it's comfy and you don't get heel lift then you're good to go.

Sweet. I use a leather shim in the back of them for sking. I'll check for heel lift on the mountain, but certainly they feel just fine.

The other inners "grab" the back of my heel where it widens at the Achilles. Super uncomfy.

I found the 32 boots the most uncomfortable (alongside Salomon) when I went looking for boots. They felt like cardboard and the 9s were too wide. I'd recommend trying on different boots at a shop and buy the boots that feel the best.

Funny, because my other option is a pair of Salomon malumutes. They FIT, but again, grab the back of my heel too tight.

I swear my ski boot inners in these 32's fit like a glove. Gonna go with that for now!

@wozzad, Malamutes are a rad boot, but STIFF. One of the absolute stiffest snowboard boots on the market. If they're not comfortable, worth looking at something slightly mellower in the Salomon range (which will still be pretty stiff by most standards) such as the Synapse.

Yeah i bought them with no prior knowledge. They are comfy, but the way the inner 'grabs' my heel is off putting. I'm a new boarder, but 30 years deep in skis.

I presume the Malamute is a few years old now - didn't find a great amount of information online about them.

I've got 23kg+23kg luggage allowance, so my current plan is to take the 32's, the Malamutes, and my trusty ski boots. overkill, but at least i'll be comfy!
