Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Driving Geneva airport to Courchevel

Poster: A snowHead
Morning SnowHeads.

I am doing this drive on Friday 27th January. Landing at 10am

Looking at the sat nav and google maps there is two routes one via Chambray on motorway and one on the south shores of lake Annecy. The former being much longer in distance but both look similar in time. I was also reading about a route on the north shore of Lake Annecy which looks similar in time but is better scenery so they say.

Anyone got any experience of these routes?

Which would you pick?

Bear in mind I have a bit to do when I get to resort so don't want to spend too much extra time travelling.

Thanks.

I'd go the motorway route: if you need to do stuff in resort then you don't want to run the possibility of delays, which I think would be more likely on the Annecy route.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Autoroute all the way, unless you want lunch in Annecy (which you don't)

I used to recommend the Annecy route but have changed my mind in recent times and now take the autoroute. Just seems less hassle.

Helps if you've got a peage tag too. You can get one from Sanef with a UK bank account these days. You've probably got enough time before your trip to still get one.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@craigjbarker, given your need to 'do stuff' when you get there, Autoroute.

The Annecy route is lovely and beautiful and for dawdling in the summer. Actually dawdling in the winter is good too - we went to Bourg via Annecy this winter because in no hurry.
Came back via autoroute because we had to be sure of catching flight.

It's like comparing A roads with the odd town to navigate, with a motorway version in the UK. You won't see a lot from the M-way, or get the ambience of the country/history/locality but you probably don't care.

Thanks for the advice. I have a tag for the peage so will take the autoroute.

Will leave Annecy for when we have more time Very Happy
