Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Parking in Alpe D'Huez

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi

I wonder if anyone might be able to advise please. We are doing our first season here this year but are travelling down in our camper van. Having looked at the local parking, its going to be rather pricey!!! Can anyone recommend local parking for a sub 6 metre van for the season please? Preferably that doesn't cost £70 a week!!! We don't need hook up as we have accommodation, we just need somewhere we can park for 5 months.... and somewhere with height restrictions of no less than 2 metres.

Many thanks,
Ricoshay

@Ricoshay, Don't know anything about Alpe d'Huez, but in Tignes there are seasonal parking contracts for a lot less than the standard weekly rate.

You could always dump the van down in Bourg d'Oisans.

Thanks guys

I wondered about parking on the road but I don't know the area so not sure if its feasible. I'll make some more enquiries, but if anyone has local knowledge we'll be working in Huez village.

Will have a look at Bourg too Happy

@Ricoshay, Usually in the satellite villages it's a lot easier to find on street parking or layby parking on the road in. I don't know about Huez specifically.

The only time I've paid is at Tignes were there is no free parking at all.

Car parking in Alpe d'Huez is generally free outdoors but the spaces are slowly getting eaten away by ongoing developments, once you get a space you are usually OK though, just don't go anywhere in February or you will lose it Laughing In Huez itself I have seen vehicles that look as if they are dumped for the season in the little car park just by the televillage, by the the road to Villlard Reculas. I am not sure about Huez but in Alpe d'Huez if you leave a camper van parked anywhere other than the official camper van place then you will get notes on the door / windscreen from the Police Municipale council saying you cannot stay in a camper van on a car park. I think you must be able to promise them you are not sleeping in it though because I have seen small campervans dumped for the season by the side of the road below our place.

Just before you arrive in Alpe d'huez there is a road to the right called Avenue de l'Eclose and I've seen a camper van parked there for the season.
