Thanks. I took it when it had cleared up a bit! It's in Germany if anyone fancies a stab at where precisely..

@geoffers, That was the view we had been hoping for! Still there was something about the freezing fog, otherworldly.

Thanks Albob.
Rather further north in what Frosty would describe as 'Gods own'. Quite near the town thats name is duplicated 57 times (so far), across the world.
Try another guess.

It's in Yorkshire. It's the field just below the George and Dragon at Hudswell near Richmond, the town with 57 varieties!
Apparently it's where the local skiing group used to set up their portable tow in the 1960s. It's a sheltered north facing field opposite Richmond. The group went on to form the Harwood ski Federation in the late 1960s and ran their two 400m permanent rope tows for 40 years at the top end of Teesdale.
The street lights which illuminate a water company path, allowed for night skiing !
Sadly the Harwood ski federation which was an amalgam of the swaledale outdoor club and the Glaxo ski club Barnard castle, shut down about 3 years ago. One of their tows is now operated by the Lowther Hills ski club above Wanlockhead.
Now back to some slightly less obscure ski areas
