Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Austrian Hotel Contract (ÖHVB) 3 month cancellation

Can anyone clarify when the 3 month cancellation period starts? Is it 12 weeks or for example, holiday booked to start 18th March, 3 months before is 18th January? Due to a foot injury we might have to cancel and I just want to be sure when our deadline is. I know we lose the deposit but at least if we cancel in time we won't incur any hotel charges.

@sharon1953, dont know but if you already have your insurance it should be covered anyway. I would ask the hotel

What does the contract say?

If it says 3 months, then it will be 3 calendar months. If it says 90 days, then it will be 90 days.

@sharon1953, From reading the Austrian Hotel Contract http://www.pension-wild.com/wp-content/uploads/oehvb_english.pdf I think it is 3 calendar months without paying a cancellation fee, but note all the other terms. 1 month before you are required to pay for 3 nights room rate. There are also terms around the hotels obligation to try to relet and to deduct the savings from your cancellation/no show but not sure how compound these conditions are.
