Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@CaravanSkier, it seems to be an average of the ratings given for a photo. That checks out for mine.

Yes, it's an average of the ratings. As explained in my reply to maggi above there is an alternative way of doing it - does anyone have any thoughts on that? (Too late for this year's entries).

@Yoda, I feel that voting for a single photo is more suited for a single winner and wouldn't necessarily yield a fair rating on the top dozen photos - there are a few clear "winners" in this batch (imho Very Happy), so I might be inclined instead to vote for a "friend" instead Toofy Grin

It is possible to sort them by (say) date posted descending, 90 to a page, then use the right/left arrow on each image and rate each as you step through them. I didn't find it too onerous - the main challenge was trying to apply a fair judgement across the board!

OK thanks for your comments both. I can't get the sorting function to work on IE11 but it does work if I use Chrome.
