Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@PeDaSp, Thought-provokingly misanthropic - can't help but fear the massive ingress of skiers to the Alpes.

@Mike Pow, agreed. I read an interview with him where he said he'd been listening to a lot of radio while injured, and it had quite a profound effect in how he utilises/wants to utilise soundtrack and dialogue for deeper immersion and connection in his videos.

Good vid.

Know someone who did a daytrip to Snow World, near Beijing. It was brutal. Almost entirely on artificial snow.

No, I don't see that either.

@Steilhang, @adithorp, I think @Snowsartre means that the video showed that the Chinese middle class are expanding and will become crazy for skiing in the same way that Japan did. But they don't have many good resorts.

Thus we could soon have hordes of Chinese skiing in the Alps, and hence his general dislike of all humanity (not just the Chinese) would mean that he would be displeased to put it mildly. snowHead

@PeDaSp, Thanks for posting, really interesting.

I skied at Harbin Jihua ski resort a couple of years ago, which is about an hours drive outside Harbin in NE China - about 250 miles North of Changbai Mountain shown in the video. The Harbin area only gets about 1m of snowfall annually, although it's super cold so it sticks around all winter. The resort was tiny (two chairlifts operating when we were there) and the skiing as you'd expect, very hard packed pistes with no chance of off-piste unless your skis can cut through bamboo. Interestingly, most of the Chinese were renting 80s straight skis, and most of them seemed to have never been skiing before.

I'm quite surprised they get so much more snow down on the North Korea border!

Cool to see Nanshan there and looking exactly how I remember, although a lot less crowded. My report here! http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=117403

Also they had their own kit so wouldn't have had to put up with the total shite available to rent Wink

Love his films, I'd wondered why I hadn't seen any new ones and didn't know he was injured. Hope there are more to come!

Your precious Alpes will be safe. Japan is only a hop skip over from Beijing.

That's where the "massive ingress of skiers" from China is happening. But the Japanese doesn't appear to be quite as fearful.
