Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Most up to date Chamonix guidebook?

I've been looking around for a new guidebook for off piste and ski tours in the Chamonix/courmayeur area, however the vamos one seems to be out of print. Anyone want to reccomend a decent alternative (English language ideally)? Ideally covering Cham, courmayeur and the classic stuff in the Vallee Blanche and argentiere basin.

Cheers

 Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

These two books are more free ride focused but published in Italy in 2013 are upto date and have the off piste decents incl some serious ones described in English. Also Fatmap linked below is like a guide book on your phone complete with maps.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Cheers! I knew I'd seen something like that in the bookshop opposite snells, that was the book I was looking for. Yeah I've got the Fat Map for the Grands Montets, I imagine they've expanded the number of zones since I last looked at it

@hollando, the blue one also covers Chamonix and has a few of the classic tours in it as well. It's good and clear, cost 25 euro I think.
Fat map covers all the ski areas in Chamonix plus the toula glacier, there are also other resorts available. It's very comprehensive and detailed plus has discriptions as well, but is limited to lift served off piste.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

If you look up Francois Burnier on Facebook you can apparently download his vamos guide as a PDF free of charge.
