Poster: A snowHead

I've never stayed in a small chalet before, is everyone fed at the same time? Concern is, last years chalet hotel allowed us to take our tot to dinner but this years choices say he can't join us. That's fine, we can dine alone while the other stays with the boy, but only if we can eat at seperate times. Also some of the ski Espirit chalet hotels have the same deal but say they have a corridor listening service. Does this work out ok? Not sure about leaving a toddler rampage the room while someone doesn't hear him outside! (To be fair he's very quiet but who knows what he'll be like next year!)

We have used the baby listening service for our two since they were 1 & 4 and then for many years in between this last April when they were 6 & 9.
We put them then at their normal bedtime, make sure they are settled, before leaving our room and signing them into baby listening. You then leave your instructions with the person or people on your floor. Whether it is one or two is dependent on the number of rooms they are covering. They cab either regularly go in or listen at the door (my preference). Personally we found it works really well. Now our eldest is the age she is she sometimes uses the cocoa club but often is too tired after full day skiing. So she likes to go and have a chat with the person outside before going to bed so she knows who is looking after her.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Can see a problem if your lad isn't regularly asleep for the night by the time of adult dinner. I would most definitely not leave a small child awake alone in a room with somebody listening outside; they are normally up to no good when everything goes quiet.
If you like to eat together, but late, your best bet might be a self-catering apartment and either go out to meals (French restaurants won't mind children) or buy in nice things from a traiteur (assuming you don't want to cook).

I have used the listening service and it was fine. Also depending on the size of the chalet your baby monitor may also work. We did also pop back to the room to check on our daughter.

@J9, had just reminded me we did take a use our baby monitor the first time as well. We picked a room on the first floor and had to sit in a certain area of the dinning room but that did work Ok (that was at Crystal 2000, Courchevel). When you book with Esprit you can pick your room so you know exactly what you are getting in terms of number of beds, toilets, showers etc as well as how far from the restaurant.
