Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Catered chalets in Les Gets or Morzine?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Does anyone have an recommendations for catered chalets in Les Gets or Morzine for approx 12-16 people. Even better if the rooms are doubles and twins rather than family rooms. Budget is approx £550 per person for catered chalet (flights and transfers extra). We much prefer independent small chalets but they are harder to find online!
Thanks

Dates? Presumably low season, with that budget.

Ski Total has a selection of catered chalets in Les Gets, that might fit the bill.

@icedgemma, We stayed with Simply Morzine (www.simply-morzine.co.uk) in the summer a few years ago now. Their website suggests they have expanded a bit since then - we stayed in Chalet des Montagnes and it was the only one they had at that time. Mike, the owner was a great guy and from what I can remember he mentioned there was a blue run directly behind the chalet. Looking at the prices, they are higher than your budget for most weeks but include transfers if needed. Also mentioned is a discount on lift passes and hire of equipment which when taken into account of the overall cost may mean it's worth a look for you.

@icedgemma, I expect you have already tried it, but googling brings up lots of the names. I hear good things about Pure Mountain and Mrski, just seeing their Ames appear. There is also the option of using Chalet Kitchen to do your catering if you go for a self catered place.

Thanks for the replies so far. We are thinking beginning of March, doesn't need to be school hols. We're not bothered about complete luxury and got a place in Plagne 1800 for £420 per person last year so thought the budget was do-able. The main issue with the google results is that they're often already full for March 2017 or at least some of the rooms are taken and we want a complete chalet.
Will check out the recommendations so far. Thanks

@icedgemma, first week of March is still French school hold. Mid month would be ideal.

Hi everyone, and thanks @loatie, for recommending us.

Simply Morzine are THE original & best Morzine specialists, offering truly unique holidays since 1996. We are highly-regarded in the UK snowsports industry as well as the local Morzine French community.

Please check out our website (we have a brand new & modern site going live in the coming weeks so keep an eye out for it!): http://www.simply-morzine.co.uk/winter/intro.php

WE CAN RECOMMEND THE FOLLOWING OPTION(S):

CHALET DES MONTAGNES is an on piste and ensuite luxury catered chalet with outdoor hot-tub. There are 8 bedrooms plus a private 2-bedroom apartment (can be let separately self-catered). It is owned privately by our family and has been built, furnished and maintained to an immaculately high standard. We have an official 4-star rating by the French Tourist Board. The location is one of the most sought-after in Morzine; a peaceful and upmarket residential area with magnificent panoramic views, yet just 50 metres from the piste and close to the nearest lift, our local ski shop & the town centre.

Our premium luxury central chalet with hot-tub, COEUR DE MORZINE (Heart of Morzine), is modern, stylish and truly special. Remarkably situated just yards from the tourist office / village centre, very close to both the Pleney and Super Morzine lifts (within 100m & 200m respectively) and ‘ski in, ski out’ to within 100m, it is no exaggeration to claim this as the best-located chalet in Morzine. The chalet accommodates 10-12 guests in 5/6 ensuite bedrooms.
Coeur de Morzine has the ‘wow factor’, standing out from the crowd with touches such as underfloor heating throughout, panoramic sun terrace with magnificent views of the adjacent Pleney pistes, designer bathrooms, quality linen, towels & bathrobes, and a wellness area with sauna & jacuzzi.

CHALET MADELEINE is a newly-built, luxuriously furnished on-piste chalet with sauna. There are picture-postcard views of Morzine and the surrounding mountains from the chalet’s stunning location beside the piste. It is one of the finest chalets in Morzine and has been officially rated as 4-star by the French Tourist Board. The chalet accommodates 10-12 people in 5 bedrooms plus a mezzanine area, each with private bathroom. It is located right on the piste and a 15-20 minute walk to the town centre. We provide an efficient pre and post-skiing shuttle service in one of our company minibuses, should you not wish (or not be able) to ski from/to the chalet, as well as a post après-ski service!

CHALET CARVING is arguably Morzine’s best-located on-piste chalet, providing a true ‘ski in, ski out’ holiday. The property is positioned at the foot of the main ski slopes & lifts, yet discrete and secluded, with the village centre just 100 metres away. It has a sauna, games room and is officially rated as a 4-star chalet by the French Tourist Board. Newly-built and very comfortably furnished, the chalet accommodates 10-13 people in 5 ensuite bedrooms.

CHALET-HOTEL LA CHAUMIERE is known as one of Morzine’s best small hotels for flexible short breaks, as well as for full weekly holidays. The chalet-style hotel has a personal, welcoming and uniquely charming atmosphere. The French cuisine is of a very high standard and there is a comfortable lounge/bar & small heated swimming pool (rather like a very large outdoor hot-tub). The hotel has an official 3-star rating by the French Tourist Board.
The location is one of the most sought-after in Morzine; a peaceful and upmarket residential area with magnificent panoramic views, yet just 25 metres from the piste and close to the nearest lift, our local ski shop & the town centre.

 You know it makes sense.

@Simply Morzine, actually, I think you might find that the original Morzine specialists were probably "Chalet Morzine" established around 1980 by Sally Dockerill and the late, much missed Pyotr Zimmermann.

Or even "Ski Tips" of Chris Stannard and Annie Wyatt, est. around the same time...

The timelines that far back are clouded.

@Pamski, I can't offer a full recommendation for Pure Mountain but we chose them for March next year and the experience so far has been good. Lots of positive feedback out there and probably within your budget

@Dogfever, it's not me looking for a chalet as we have our own in Les Gets, it was @icedgemma, I have just met people who have stayed with Pure Mountain and enjoyed it. But they are absolutely nothing to do with me.

Yes, my bad, I meant to split that post and @ the OP. I think it might have been you who put me onto Pure Mountain in the first place.
